Two Haitians, Patrick Louiseau, 26, and Florence Toussaint, 27, pleaded guilty to federal firearms charges after smuggling guns to Haiti. They purchased 20 handguns and a number of frozen turkeys. They thawed the turkeys, stuffed them with the guns, refroze them, and carried them overseas in their luggage. Convinced the scheme had worked, they were arrested after buying 90 more handguns. (AP) ...The poultry salesman turned them in: he got suspicious when they came back for more turkeys.

When tax inspectors raided a textile sweatshop in Buenos Aires, Argentina, most of the employees ran for the exits. But one man donned a disguise — a dress — and posed as a mannequin. But the inspectors were not fooled by the man’s disguise after spotting his “scruffy size 45 espadrilles”. (Reuters) ...Too sexy for his shoes.

Thanks in part to a new interpretation of obscenity laws, the weekly Shukan Post is now Japan’s number one magazine, thanks to its full-frontal nude photography. The laws’ old interpretation prohibited the showing of pubic hair on nude models, but the new, more liberal photos are bringing readers in droves. “They’ve reinvented the magazines for younger readers, and hair nudes are certainly a part of this,” said a spokesman from the All-Japan Magazine and Book Publishers and Editors’ Association. Previously, scores of women were employed to scratch out any pubic hair showing in imported magazines. Brooklyn, N.Y., Criminal Court Judge Laura Jacobson acquitted a 300 pound woman of prostitution charges because she apparently did not have sex with her clients. The defendant’s “foot-licking, spanking, domination and submission do not appear to fall within the category of sexual conduct referred to in the [prostitution] statute,” the judge ruled. New York police arrested Antonio Olmeda, 36, for solicitation after he agreed to pay an undercover officer $10 for sex. In the back of the van he was driving, police found 18 pipe bombs and other explosives, a flame thrower, a laser-sighted shotgun, several swords and machetes, 1,000 rounds of mostly illegal ammunition, a bulletproof vest, a canister of Mace, a gas mask and two sets of handcuffs.
